Business Opportunity During Economic Crisis
It's truly amazing how short our memories are. In the late 1980s we dealt with the S&L crisis. That one only cost the government-I mean taxpayers-about $325 billion. The result of the crisis were millions of lost jobs and foreclosed homes. Sound familiar? Why didn't we learn anything?
Well, actually we did learn something back then: As bad as that time was for some, it was a boom for others. Some people made a fortune during that period. Many more made a good living, while even more supplemented their dwindling incomes. The companies that turned the bust into a boom sold many different types of products manufactured mainly in foreign countries, but they all had one thing in common: They provided everyone from the executive to the unskilled laborer the same opportunity. These companies were all part of the direct selling industry.
Today there are many companies out there that provide this type of opportunity, and I happen to work for one of them as the Vice President of Business Development and General Manager. I have used the experience that I gained by joining the direct sales industry in the early 1990s to counsel the decision makers in our company to devise a marketing plan that is ideal for today's evolving marketplace.
Now is the time to attract people who are looking to take control of their professional and economic situation. And, in order to do so, there can't be just a good product or products, although good products are essential. There can't be just a burgeoning market trend in which your product fits, although that is essential as well. The key ingredient that will attract professional people is the opportunity to make real money-the kind of money that will make them jump out bed in the morning to work, excited about their new full-time job or rush home from their day job to work this fantastic opportunity in the evenings. That is why we have chosen NOT to build a network or multi-level marketing plan.
The problem with MLM plans is that they require enough margin to pay several people for every sale made. This drives up costs, which drives away consumers. Our company has chosen to pay a maximum of two people in a transaction. The majority of the margin goes to the person who makes the sale, up to 50% in some cases. The salesperson actually makes more money in the transaction than the company does! That fact alone should attract some people who know how to go to make things happen.
But what about the other two essentials: product and market trend? The product should be something that people need, rather than desire. And it should be something about which more and more people are becoming aware. We feel we have a product line that hits the nail in the head. Both nails actually.
As the cost of traditional health care rises, more and more people are turning to alternative means of treating ailments. Many physicians and patients are emphasizing preventive care rather than acute care. These general facts makeup a general trend: wellness. Now for the secret ingredient: water.
Recent reports about pharmaceutical drugs, uranium, lead and other contaminants suggest that tap water provided by municipal water districts is unhealthy to drink. Studies have also shown that the most popular bands of bottled water are just tap water run through a filter. In addition, contaminants leach into the water from the plastic bottles. Plus, bottled water is expensive. And, the millions of plastic bottles reaching our landfills is a whole other problem. Most tap water and bottled water acidic as well. Why is that a big deal? Because studies show that acidity in the body, especially when we get older (40 plus), causes aging and is linked to many diseases.
We manufacture a water ionizer for residential use in any kitchen (above or under the counter installation) that produces high alkaline, filtered drinking water. Why high alkaline drinking water? Because it raises the overall pH of the body, preventing over acidity. This in turn helps prevent obesity and a whole host of adult diseases. The attention that water ionizers are receiving is incredible, making the timing for this business opportunity perfect.
The fact that we are in the worst economic downturn in our lifetimes is unfortunate for many. But many others will seize an opportunity by looking for one. If they look in the right place, they will find one like ours. They will take pride in selling-and coaching others to sell-a high quality, much needed product, while taking home the lions' share of the profit on the sale. I look forward to meeting these people and watching them change their future while helping to shape the future of our company.
